Some big apps out there aren't optimized for macOS 64-bit operating systems, including Valve's Steam Client, as you can see from the attached screenshot, and others will start disappearing from the Mac App Store. However, Apple says that you can continue using any 32-bit apps you might have installed on your Mac, which won't have any adverse effects on your computer or the data contained on it. "To ensure that the apps you purchase are as advanced as the Mac you run them on, all future Mac software will eventually be required to be 64-bit.

With the macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 software update released last month, Apple implemented a tool for application developers to test their apps for 64-bit compatibility as 32-bit deprecation is upon us with future macOS releases, and now it looks like users are being warned about 32-bit app compatibility as well. Click here to sign up for the beta program to access macOS High Sierra early.As announced last year during the WWDC (Worldwide Developer Conference) event, Apple will deprecate support for 32-bit apps in future versions of its macOS operating system for Mac computers.
Note: At the time of this writing, macOS High Sierra is only available in beta. You will need to restart the machine to complete the download, and you will likely need to sign back into your AppleID as well, so have your AppleID password handy. The download will begin, and it will alert you once it is completed.

Click on Get, and it should turn green and ask you if you want to install the update.

Since the upgrade is free, it should only say Get next to the download icon, instead of listing a price. If it isn’t, type “macOS High Sierra” into the search bar at the top right, and it should be the first option available in the search results. Once available, the link to download macOS High Sierra will likely be prominently displayed on the Featured tab in the store. Start by clicking on the Mac App Store icon on the dock on your Mac. The macOS High Sierra download will be available through the Mac App Store. There are a few other feature requirements that Apple has listed here. In the window that pops up, you should see what model you have under the Overview tab. If you aren’t sure what model Mac you have, click on the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen and click About This Mac. In terms of which individual machines will run the upgrade, here is Apple’s official list of supported Macs:
Your machine should also be running OS X version 10.7.5 or later. As a general rule, your machine must have 2GB of available memory and 8.8GB of available storage for the download. When the OS is generally available in the fall of 2017, it will be offered as a free upgrade to existing Mac users through the Mac app store. Apple recently unveiled macOS High Sierra, version 10.13 of its desktop and laptop OS.
